Our Assembly

Kia ora,
We hosted the whole school assembly today and it was great!  We did a play called Mrs Wishy Washy and Miss Fok said we did such a good job at acting that we should be very proud. Thank you to all our whanau who came to support us.

Here is the music video we made for a song to learn our colours, weather and numbers in te reo Maori. Enjoy :)

Shape hunting

Last week for Friday Maths, we went around our school on a shape hunt! We took photos of different shapes around our school. We were amazed to see that almost everything was a shape!
We had to create a shape poster to categorise and display the shapes we found. Here are some of them.

No David!

Last week, we read a book called "David goes to school" written by David Shannon. It was about a naughty boy who misbehaved at school. We helped teach David the classroom rules such as how to be kind, raising our hands and not pushing in line.

We also made little Davids and stuck the rules on his t-shirt to remind him and us of how we behave at school.

2015!!

Hello there!

Wow it's already 2015 and we have a brand new set of 5 year olds in room 1! Room 1 has started with 9 children, but this number will definately grow as days go by! Today was their first day of school and we had a great day (even though the temperature was 27 degrees!).

Here is our first class photo!
Here we are practising our fine motor skills by threading and making patterns!

PARENTS FYI:  Children will be sent home with their book bag and notebook this week. Inside the notebook will be a alphabet sheet, word sheet and number sheet. I would appreciate if parents could help children practise these at least 3 times a week.

Daffodil day!!

Hello everyone

Today was Daffodil day! We had such a good time donating money to the cancer charity, as well as making daffodil head pieces to wear in the Daffodil parade!

Here are some photos of what we got up to.

Here we are hi-fiving the audience and showing off our creations. We felt like super stars!
Here is a photo of us smiling, with our beautiful daffodil flower head pieces which we made ...
...and of course we had to do a silly one. We do like to Monkey around sometimes!

Things to remember:

- Our trip to the Stardome observatory is next Friday (wk 7).
- We host our whole school assembly on Monday 8th September at 1.15pm. We would love it if parents and whanau could attend and watch us perform!!

Last day of Term 2

Talofa lava everyone,

It has been another great term in Room 1. Wow we have already been at school for half a year!

We have been looking forward to our well deserved break, but we have to make sure we keep our brains working during the holidays.

Things we can do:
- Keep reading books/signs
- Practice our letters/words/blends
- Count to 100 and back from 100
- Practice our basic facts.

We had such a fun day and got special treats because we had worked hard all term.

We put shaving foam all over our desks and practiced writing our names, shapes, numbers and letters in the foam. It was such messy fun!

We then got to make popcorn and it was a yummy healthy snack.

Here we are waiting for the popcorn to pop.
Yay the kernels are popping! POP POP POP!
Mmmm, yum! Here we are eating our yummy popcorn.

Have a relaxing and fun holiday!
