What we have been up to in Term 4 so far...

We have been learning about Probability - Chance for maths. We had to think of events for each of the keywords that determine the chance of an event; Impossible, Unlikely, Likely and Certain.
Here is our book of "Impossible" things.

We have also been learning about celebrations and festivals. As part of this, we have been learning all about the Rugby World Cup 2015. We have been so excited following the tournament by watching the highlights in class, learning the countries' flags and writing about the RWC. We especially love watching the All Blacks play!
We are also learning about Diwali. Room 1 did a play about Diwali and we acted out the parts of Sita, Rama and Ravana. It was so fun!

Here is our Diwali wall, we created the beautiful Rangoli patterns by collaging coloured paper.

Miss Fok has also taken some awesome photos of our classroom. Check them out..

2015!!

Hello there!

Wow it's already 2015 and we have a brand new set of 5 year olds in room 1! Room 1 has started with 9 children, but this number will definately grow as days go by! Today was their first day of school and we had a great day (even though the temperature was 27 degrees!).

Here is our first class photo!
Here we are practising our fine motor skills by threading and making patterns!

PARENTS FYI:  Children will be sent home with their book bag and notebook this week. Inside the notebook will be a alphabet sheet, word sheet and number sheet. I would appreciate if parents could help children practise these at least 3 times a week.

Thank you to the whanau that made it to our PCS open morning!

A big thank you to the parents and whanau that made it to our PCS open morning. We really enjoyed having you here and showing you how clever we are!

We read a shared big book called "Monkey's shoes". We then had to colour a monkey, design his huge shoes and write about our favourite part.

Here are some of them that are displayed on our wall.

Reminders:
- Children were sent home with raffle tickets to sell. If the money could be back ASAP that would be great!
- PTA mufti day is this Friday (7th Nov). Children need to bring either a gold coin donation or a can of food donation.

Diwali!

Namaste all!

In room 1, we have been learning about a festival called Diwali. It is a celebration that many children in room 1 celebrate. Diwali is also known as the festival of lights.

To celebrate, we have been doing many fun things including drawing our own mendhi designs, making Diwali star craft, reading the story of Diwali, rangoli patterns and making Diya lamps.

Here are a few photos of us making our awesome star decoration and Diya lamps.

Our Diya lamps

Reminder: We have our Diwali or book character dress up day on Friday 24th October. Children are allowed dress up in Diwali clothes or as a book character. Also this week is the last week to purchase your child's calendar/diary art.
