Community helpers - Firefighters and the Police

Kia ora,

We have been learning about community helpers for topic. We were lucky enough to meet some local Papatoetoe Police and Firefighters. They talked about what they do for their jobs and how they help keep people safe. 

Here we are learning to cross the road safely with Constable Dimi.  We learned that we need to Stop, look and listen before we cross the road.

 We got to hop into the police car and practice making our seat belts "click". We really enjoyed being in a police car!

 Here we are meeting our local Papatoetoe firefighters.

 The firefighter needs to wear special thick protective clothes to keep himself safe.

 Wow that hose is powerful!

Symmetry

We have been learning about Symmetry. We had to work in groups to create two sides that were both the same. We learned that this was called the 'line of symmetry'.

We have had an exciting week in Room 1. We are taking part in the AIA healthy kids initiative where we have gotten a free pedometer. We have to do lots of walking and exercise to keep our step count up! We were so lucky because Gemma Flynn (NZ hockey Olympian) came to visit and do some fitness with us. We also got filmed to be on TV3 news in the weekend.
