End of term 2

Hello all,
Here are just some snippets of things we have done over the term that have not made it onto the blog yet.

Marbling paper with shaving foam
We are putting drops of paint in the shaving foam
We then had to swirl the colours around with a stick.
We put paper in the foam pressed down and then scraped off the foam to reveal our beautiful marbled pattern.

We also did marbling in a box with poster paint. It was fun watching the marbles create the patterns on our paper.

Learning how to play snakes and ladders

I hope everyone has a great holiday. Remember children can read their books at home, play reading eggs, practice their math basic facts or write about their holidays during the break.

Take care

ANZAC

Hello
We have been learning about ANZAC day and have been doing things to honour all the brave soldiers that fought in the world wars.

Here is Brayden and Mikayla at the ANZAC day parade in Papatoetoe.
Here we all are in front of the ANZAC poppies that we made.

We also made ANZAC biscuits. Did you know that soldier's families sent them these biscuits during war?

Here is the recipe if you want to have a go at making these at home.
ANZAC biscuits
125g butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1 tablespoon water
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup rolled oats

2. Heat butter, syrup and the water.
3. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda.
4. Mix with remaining ingredients
5. Roll mixture into small sized balls and flatten.
6. Bake for 20m mins approx.

Fun during the end of term 1!

Talofa,
We have had such a busy but fun few weeks to round off term 1! Doesn't time fly by?
Here is a lovely photo of us before we performed in our Pasifika Showcase. The countries we were representing was Samoa and NZ.

On the last day of school, we got to make popcorn as a special treat! It was fun watching the corn kernels pop and the popcorn was delicious!

Here we are, putting the kernels into the popcorn machine.
Here we are eating our delicious popcorn.

Have a great last week of holidays! Don't forget that school begins again on Monday 20th April.

Pancakes!

We had a special treat for the last day of term 3 because we had been working so hard all term!

We made yummy pancakes!

We had to help Miss Fok measure the ingredients and stir the batter. Then Miss Fok poured some batter in the frying pan and we got to help her flip them over! It was so cool watching the air bubbles form in the pancakes so we could tell when they were ready to be flipped.

They were super delicious!

Last day of Term 2

Talofa lava everyone,

It has been another great term in Room 1. Wow we have already been at school for half a year!

We have been looking forward to our well deserved break, but we have to make sure we keep our brains working during the holidays.

Things we can do:
- Keep reading books/signs
- Practice our letters/words/blends
- Count to 100 and back from 100
- Practice our basic facts.

We had such a fun day and got special treats because we had worked hard all term.

We put shaving foam all over our desks and practiced writing our names, shapes, numbers and letters in the foam. It was such messy fun!

We then got to make popcorn and it was a yummy healthy snack.

Here we are waiting for the popcorn to pop.
Yay the kernels are popping! POP POP POP!
Mmmm, yum! Here we are eating our yummy popcorn.

Have a relaxing and fun holiday!
