Mother's day love

Kia ora,
We hoped all the mothers out there had a lovely mother's day! We would like to show you what we made for our mums. 
Reminder: Our trip to Ambury Farm is this Thursday 14th May. Please make sure children do the following - wear closed toe shoes and school uniform, bring a lunchbox, raincoat and drink bottle.

Friday Maths Fun and Mother's day cards

Last week we did Friday maths. It is a special time of the week, that our whole school does maths that is based on problem solving and contexts that we can relate to.

This was the first time we had ever done problem solving for maths and we did such a good job! Miss Fok gave us a problem and we brainstormed ideas of how we might solve it. We then got into small groups to work it out together. 


The problem was

Here are some pictures of us showing you how we worked out and found the answer to the problem.
We had to draw 5 bears and we gave each bear 3 buttons. We then counted how many buttons we used altogether. Some of us even skip counted in 3's! 






We found out the answer was... 15 buttons!

We also made cards for Mother's day on Sunday. Miss Fok said we did a really good job with them!

Class trip to the Auckland Botanic Gardens
